But when Lucas vanishes without a trace, she quickly realizes that his fears may have been rooted in something far more sinister.

The film doesn’t try to lighten the mood with comic relief, and that works to its advantage. The grim tone is consistent, and the scares feel earned.

Robert Bowery himself is a frightening figure. With large dark glasses, decaying teeth, oversized ears, and a disturbing grin, he embodies the image of a real-life nightmare. There are clear visual cues that nod to horror icons like Michael Berryman, adding to the character’s lasting impression. Bowery’s presence alone is enough to unsettle even the most seasoned horror viewers.
